As we move into 2023, digital PR’s importance will only grow. With more and more people turning online for their news and information, businesses and organizations must be able to promote themselves online effectively. But how can you ensure that your digital PR efforts are truly effective? Here are a few tips to help you elevate your digital PR in the coming year.

Build real and genuine connections

Focus on building relationships. In the digital world, getting lost in the noise can be easy. But if you can establish genuine connections with media contacts, you’ll be much more likely to hear your message. Look for opportunities to collaborate, and be willing to share your expertise to build trust and credibility.

One way to do this is through media networking events, where you can connect with other professionals in your industry and form partnerships. After meeting potential contacts, I suggest sending them an email thanking them for their time and saying that you would be interested in collaborating with them; that way, you’ll be kept top of mind. A friendly reminder that no one likes spammy or too promotional-sounding emails; you’ll just be ignored; instead, start by complimenting a recent article and share a story idea that might be of interest to their readership, include a short bio on your expertise, and one or two topic ideas, and if you have any relevant data, be sure to include it. Be sure to keep your email short and sweet; no one wants to read an essay.

Also, you can use digital PR software to identify and outreach to potential influencers and media outlets that align with your brand.

Data! Data! Data!

Next, make sure that your digital PR efforts are data-driven. With so much information available online, it can be hard to know what’s working and what’s not. You can better understand which strategies are driving the most engagement and conversions using analytics and tracking tools. These tools will allow you to refine your tactics, focus on specific keywords and focus on what’s working and what will create the most buzz with the media.

With data, you can also identify the right audience to target and the right message to deliver, making your digital PR efforts more efficient and effective.

It’s all about the engaging and unique storytelling

Another essential aspect of digital PR is storytelling. In a world where attention spans are shorter than ever, it’s vital that you’re able to grab people’s attention and keep them engaged. One way to do this is by creating compelling and unique stories that connect with your audience emotionally. Whether you’re highlighting a customer success story or sharing a behind-the-scenes look at your company, storytelling is a powerful way to build connections with your audience and bring in new audiences.

Another way to level up your storytelling is by adding a visual component through videos, images, and infographics that can be more engaging and shareable.

Enhance your visibility by using social media and your website

Social media is also vital in digital PR, so ensure you use it effectively. This means creating engaging and shareable content, promoting your media placements, building a following, and engaging with your audience regularly. Platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn are all great options, especially as Instagram and TikTok are becoming popular amongst many audiences. With the right approach, social media can build brand awareness, drive traffic to your website, and connect with potential customers.

In addition to social media, create a media page on your website. This landing page is another easy way to promote your media visibility. Be sure to add all your media placements, such as interviews, podcasts, infographics, guest blogs and ‘Help a Reporter Out” placements.

Take risks or get left behind

Be willing to experiment and take risks. Digital PR is an ever-evolving field, and what works today may not work tomorrow. By staying up-to-date on the latest trends and innovations and being willing to try new things, you’ll stay ahead of the curve and keep your digital PR efforts fresh and compelling. In addition, it’s essential to measure the success of your campaigns and adjust your strategy accordingly. The more outdated your campaigns are, the more likely your brand will get left behind, so take risks and create your own twist in line with trending topics.

Work with a team of specialists

Finally, the best way to level up your digital PR campaign is to invest in various services, with departments of expert specialists who will create a full-funnel strategy to increase your brand visibility, drive traffic to your website and convert leads into customers. For example, working with SEO tactics in your digital PR efforts can help improve your search engine rankings, making it easier for customers to find your business. Paid ads to accelerate your lead generation by catering media placements to your existing customer base and to attract media readership, utilizing social media and email marketing in conjunction with digital PR to help educate leads and build upon your trustworthiness and working with a team of graphic designers to create eye-catching and sharable content. These are all essential components of elevating your digital PR strategy and dominating your top-down funnel marketing strategy
