This month, Instagram is making mobile video editing more accessible, LinkedIn is changing its approach to external links, and Wix is enhancing its website platform with AI capabilities. Here’s a look at what’s new and what it means for your marketing strategy. Let’s dive in.

Instagram’s new “Edits” app could make us all video editors

Get ready to add “video editor” to your LinkedIn headline—Instagram is getting ready to launch Edits, a new app that makes it easier than ever to create and tweak videos right from your phone. With Reels, TikTok, and Shorts dominating user attention, a streamlined tool like Edits could lower the barrier to entry for brands and creators alike.

If it lives up to its promise, this app could play a key role in how social video is produced and published moving forward.

Link and you shall receive: LinkedIn posts with links see a 13% boost

A new LinkedIn content study from Metricool, covering over 577,000 posts across nearly 48,000 company pages, challenges a long-standing assumption: that adding external links to posts hurts engagement. In fact, the opposite is true. Posts that include links saw 13.57% more interactions and 4.90% more views than those without.

The study also broke down which content formats perform best.

  • Carousels (a.k.a. PDF document posts) led the pack with an engagement rate of 45.85%
  • Videos continue to be a strong performer—volume increased by 53%, while engagement rose by 87%.
  • Polls, though making up just a sliver of total content, drove 206.33% increase in reach compared to the average post.

Takeaway? Don’t be afraid to include relevant, valuable links in your posts. And if you’re not already experimenting with carousels, videos, or even the occasional poll, now’s the time to test and iterate.

Wix Goes AI: Astro helps users work smarter, not harder

Meet Astro, Wix’s new AI assistant, that helps users work smarter—simplifying tasks like content creation, admin, and SEO. With real-time insights and actionable suggestions, it’s a built-in boost for small businesses looking to grow without juggling multiple tools.

We always love to see companies embrace AI to make our lives easier, but as Brian Murphy, Web Developer at seoplus+, explains, tools like Wix serve a purpose, but they come with trade-offs:

“Tools like Wix are designed to make websites easier to build for people who don’t know how to code. They are useful tools for people who don’t have the budget for a developer and can create simple sites with decent SEO, but they make compromises in functionality and customization for the sake of convenience and accessibility that you wouldn’t have to make if you are able to hire a professional developer. There’s nothing wrong with using Wix if it meets your needs, but from a technical perspective, it will always have a ceiling on performance and capabilities.

As a developer, Wix can be frustrating to use because there are layouts I can build myself using HTML and CSS that I could write in a few minutes that would take me hours of fiddling with Wix’s editor. I’m sure their new AI assistant will be helpful to explain to users how their editor works and better tailor things to best practices for Wix. It might make someone like me more productive in Wix, but it won’t change the fact that it’s still Wix.”

    Stay ahead of the curve

From Instagram’s new Edits app, which makes mobile video creation more accessible, to  Metricool proving that external links can actually boost engagement, and Wix’s AI assistant, Astro, streamlining site management, this month’s updates are all about smarter, faster content creation.

The takeaway? Whether you’re building brand awareness or driving results, staying ahead means embracing tools that simplify your workflow and elevate your strategy.
