Altavista
In existence since 1995, AltaVista is the longest running spidering search engine. Although nowhere near as popular as it once was, AltaVista still boasts an impressive database. AltaVista offers a free URL listing service, but indexing may take from 4 to 6 weeks.
At the time of writing AltaVista appears to penalize pages submitted through their free search engine registration option but even these pages will usually get indexed or added to their database and climb eventually. AltaVista also offers a paid inclusion service for rapid inclusion in the index. See costs below.
